Not afraid of marrying sweet, hooky vocal melodies and electronic loops with the force of heavy guitars and powerful drums, 27 has been able to meld their wide range of influences into a style of their own. Yet their diverse sound can comfortably fit into the genres of indie pop and indie rock.
27 has landed several music placements in primetime TV shows including Apple TV's "The Morning Show", Showtime’s “Shameless”, MTV’s “Awkward”, SyFy’s “The Magicians”, and ABC Family’s “The Lying Game”, among others, as well as in a number of indie films.
Based in Boston, MA, the band has released four albums, eight 7 inch records, three EPs, and a compilation record, working with labels in the US, the UK, Austria, Japan, Spain and Belgium.
27 has toured internationally numerous times, visiting the UK, Japan, Iceland, Austria, Portugal, Hungary, Switzerland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Germany, France, Italy, Greece, The Czech Republic, Canada, and throughout the US.
The band is Ayal Naor (bass, sampler), sisters Terri Christopher (drums) and Maria Christopher (vocals, guitar), with Adam McGrath (guitar).
When not busy with 27, Adam can be heard recording or touring with his seminal rock band Cave In, fronting his high voltage power trio Nomad Stones, or recording with Wear Your Wounds, the side project of the esteemed Jacob Bannon from the band Converge.
Terri has recorded and performed with Boston metal band Phantom Glue, and has released music with Dusty Skull, as well as Vardlokk featuring Grutle Kjellson from the extreme metal band Enslaved.
Maria and Ayal have contributed to works by other artists, most notably to the critically acclaimed record “Oceanic” by the band Isis.
Because of 27’s eclectic sound, the band has been fortunate enough to have shared the stage with a variety of notable bands such as Portugal. The Man, Explosions in the Sky, Minus the Bear, Pelican, Earth, Isis, and Mastodon.
27 has just released a new full-length album called “A Billion Searchlights”. The album features playful collaborations with Alex Rose of Minus the Bear, as well as stunning artwork from Cory Murchy, also from Minus The Bear.
